Difference between HTTP and HTTPS, how does it matter?

Do not consider this blog as complicated as the computing language and its terms to most of us. The difference is simple and the how it matters is also easy to understand.
You must have seen the green flagged ‘HTTPS’ on some sites and absence of this mark on few others.
Let’s check out the difference and why this green mark is important and addresses many essential factors which affect the ranking and security of your website.

What is the difference between these two?

HTTP:

Known with the acronym of Hypertext Transfer Protocol, it is a communication bridge between a server and the browser.
When the browser is connected over HTTP, your address bar shows http:// and likewise with HTTPS.
Prior to connection, a client sends the message to HTTP for connection. The server then responds with the ‘OK’ which permits the process to complete safely from both the sides.

HTTPS:

Referred as Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure, the HTTPS will be shown in the address bar as https://. The extra security feature is added in the HTTPS which permits its connection with encryption.
To gain the rank of HTTPS from HTTP, a certificate is required called as SSL. It is signed by the Certificate Authority and that is why the browser perceives it as secure and anti-spam.

Why is everybody talking about HTTPS?

Now turn your focus to,
Why is it crucial to have a https in front of the domain name?
This switching is considered as more prevailing because Google has announced that from now on it will be a ranking factor. It means that whoever does not take it seriously will get a strike from the search engine that this hit will rank down the website.
Not only it is a serious matter of concern for search engines but people also go to the secure websites.
Reports reveal that 40% of the users look for the secure website before purchasing from the e-commerce stores.
You can now understand that no https will lead to ‘not secure’ label and that means low ranking, reduced visibility and negative response and non-reliable sense from the visitors.
Less visibility to the target audience and finally lost in business and profits!
Not good to hear…

So you need to check the address bar for:

The green padlock which ensures the security of a website!
Search engine put special emphasis on attaining the SSL certificate because it enhances the secure communication and data transfer. The rate of cyber-crime is increasing constantly and it made the encryption necessary for the sites. So next time, you are shopping online or visit any website, check for the green security flag. It will prevent your system from getting harm or hacking.
